Have you fallen victim to online fraud?

Online fraud is a huge challenge for businesses and consumers alike as cybercriminals continue to develop new mechanisms to separate innocent parties from their money.

We want to talk about what Wisecars does to prevent cyber fraud!

While no system can ever prevent fraud 100% of the time, there are preventive measures that can help reduce the risks to a bare minimum.

In our effort to stay ahead of the game we have adopted several measures that help ensure that we are successfully able to protect our customers, Wisecars and the car rental providers from erroneous transactions. By tailoring our strategies and processes we have been able to greatly reduce the successful threats to an acceptable minimum. Wisecars uses a combination of sophisticated technologies such as 3DS security verifications, fraud analytics, fraud detection programs among other in house checks. Our end result is frictionless transactions that drive secure transactions for our genuine customers. We like to say we detect fraud at the speed of business!

What our trusted partners do at location level!

Driver record checks.

Avis, Budget and Payless may choose to run a driver record check or have the renter sign a document attesting that Avis’s driver criteria are met.

Hertz, Dollar and Thrifty

The three Hertz Global Holdings companies (Dollar, Hertz, and Thrifty) have policies allowing driver record checks but they do not provide details about the disqualifying factors. Historically, Hertz’s policy closely mirrors Avis’s policy.

Some of our suppliers also use ID readers. These examine the document by reading the barcodes and using multiple light sources, including visible, ultraviolet (UV), and infrared (IR).

Our suppliers are also Looking for damaged or missing security features. They are comparing printed information (in all lights) with the library version of that document to ensure print patterns are correct. They are also ensuring printed information matches information contained in the barcode on the back of the driver’s license.

Every rental car company maintains a “do not rent list”. Landing on that list means you are blackballed from renting from that company. Clients who have previously been identified as suspicious will be turned away at the location and in more serious cases can be detained on arrival to collect a car.

With the knowledge that the renter’s ID document is valid and has been authenticated, double checking that the credit card has the same name as the renter’s ID card helps prevent the majority of identity fraud.

Finally, with the increased demand for contactless car rentals and less human interactions in the car rental process, Wisecars will continue to invest resources to minimize risks while keeping the process simple for our customers and car rental providers.
